Proper maintenance of the extrusion slot-die coating head directly affects the quality and consistency of extruded products. If the die is not properly maintained, it may lead to material waste, increased operational costs, and reduced company profitability. Therefore, effective care and maintenance of the extrusion slot-die coating head are essential. Below are key maintenance practices for the extrusion slot-die coating head.

Thorough inspection and cleaning of the extrusion slot-die coating head are critical. Any residual contamination—even minor—can significantly impact precision in such high-tolerance processes. Always inspect the die for cleanliness before use, and clean it thoroughly after each operation. When replacing the die or moving the extrusion equipment, handle with extreme care to avoid mechanical damage.

Die Disassembly: Always use dedicated disassembly tools to facilitate safe removal and prevent damage to the extrusion slot-die coating head.
Die Storage: Store dies in a clean, dry, and designated area. Ideally, each die should have its own storage location. The floor should be covered with soft matting. After cleaning all components thoroughly, cover them properly. Dies should be stored separately to prevent mutual contact and potential磕碰 (impact damage). All parts must be completely cleaned before storage.

Because the accuracy of the extrusion slot-die coating head is highly sensitive, appropriate maintenance and care are crucial. Of course, this principle applies not only to extrusion slot-die coating heads but also to other types of dies, which likewise require proper care during both use and storage.

Disassembly, cleaning, repair, and maintenance of the die must be performed at a designated area—away from the production floor—that is clean and protected with corrugated sheet padding. A small crane should be available for handling. When manually lifting the die, the metal chains of block-and-tackle systems often scratch or dent the die surface. To avoid this risk, consider using hemp ropes instead. The work area should also be equipped with various tools (screwdrivers, torque wrenches, spanners), soft scrapers (made of bronze, copper, or soft aluminum), cleaning and polishing materials, and—ideally—a die preheater, which can significantly reduce die changeover time. Regular inspection of heaters is also necessary. Such a preheater should be fitted with an adequate number of heating cables and a control system. Individual heater control for each die isn’t always required, but this depends on the die size.

If a thorough cleaning is needed, loosen the main bolts of the die—but do not remove them entirely. Keep the die attached to the extruder and only loosen components related to the flow channel. Naturally, these procedures are typically carried out by trained professional maintenance personnel, so there’s no need to worry about improper handling during disassembly, cleaning, or maintenance of the extrusion slot-die coating head.
